- Listening To Reel Big Fish-The Joke's On Me
I don't know if anyone actually looks at this anymore, but this entry isn't an entry, I'm just using this pathetic little blog as a means of printing some files, because I currently don't have a printer. Or a flash drive. Oops. Well, maybe sometime in the near future, I will have an actual entry, but it most likely won't be about my life, because it is so very, very boring.
In this day and age, especially within the United States, homosexuality is one of the most controversial social and scientific topics. For a long period, it was widely accepted that homosexuality was caused mainly by environmental factors (i.e. a person is essentially “made” gay by societal means, such as parental involvement in the child's life, religious upbringing, etc...), but in recent years there has been an increase in studies that suggest the opposite: that a homosexual is actually born that way. This ever growing segment of scientific research reflects the long standing beliefs of the majority of the lesbian, gay, and bisexual (LGB) community, who have thought that homosexuality was biologically caused since before most of this research emerged. There are those who are still skeptical of these new findings, but as more studies are released, it becomes harder to deny that homosexuality is a result of biology, not the environment.

Explore the site, including the sections near the top left called “… Journalists killed in 2007” and “Journalists Deaths in Iraq Spike in 2006 / Worldwide Toll Rises.”
Summarize the site’s purpose in one specific paragraph.
The purpose of the CPJ's website is to inform the public of the Committee's purpose, protecting the rights of journalists to freely publish the truth without fear of repercussion from a government or any organization that may not want the public to be informed on current events. The website also reports on attacks to or the deaths of members of the press with motives related to stopping the flow of information from press to public.
Also, give your reaction in 100-200 words.
I'm glad this organization exists, and after reading through the website, I was surprised I had never heard of them before. One would expect a group devoted solely devoted to the protection of the press and the right that they have to publish the information they gather. Regardless, I was also surprised to find the high number of deaths in the press that go unreported by the mainstream media, I guess they don't want us to know exactly how we get our information, the sacrifices made in order to inform the public of what is really going on; although, that might just be the conspiracy theorist in me.

That is my new preferred method of greeting someone.
Quite a bit has happened in the past week or so. Sunday I went to Tom's grad party. There was some bocce ball, four-square, and pain pong, which is like ping pong, except painful. Oh, and Tom gave me this Peavy bass that he found in an abandoned building and restrung backwards for his brother, but his brother never really played it. Score.
Monday I had work, but I left a couple of hours early because my mother and I had to drive down to Long Island for my orientation. The traffic down was ridiculously not bad, it only took us five hours to get down there. Pretty fucking amazing. Yeah, ate, went to Borders, and hung around the motel room. Tuesday I had to get up obnoxiously early, we went to a diner and I had a waffle! It was a glorious waffle, just thought you all would like to know. Then there was that whole orientation thing, and it was relatively pointless. They tried to teach us the fight song and do retarded get to know each other activities. Although, that Jenga was pretty fun. Luckily, I was at a table with people who mocked the activities as much as I did. They were pretty cool. I made my schedule, that was fun, let me tell you. I'm taking: Writing 102, Women's Studies 102, Stats 102, Astronomy 101, and News Literacy 101. Yup, aside from the stats thing, it's not too bad. After orientation, we drove back home and got back quite late.
Wednesday and Thursday I didn't do much of anything, actually the same goes for Friday. God, I lead a fucking interesting life.
Saturday and Sunday were grad parties for Speckie and Eva C. respectively. Both were incredibly entertaining, although apparently god doesn't like Eva too much because he released his rainy wrath upon that party.
And today is fucking hot. And church-y people are creepy.
- Listening To Saves The Day-Freakish
But you know, it's the best ache in the world.
I'm going to skip right over Wednesday and Thursday because they were boring and can be summed up with one word: Work. I did get the news that Track IX will be performing at the Harborfest Battle of the Bands. Awesomeness.
Friday was pretty kick ass, if I do say so myself. I had work, but none of the kids were overly obnoxious, plus it was pizza Friday, and Josh had the kids bring extra money, so he got me an ice cream cake, which was totally unnecessary, but very nice. I got home, hung around for a bit, then Stanistreet and Geoff came and got me to go the last Raz Sum show ever. Tom, Geoff, Eric, Steve, Nate, Paul, and Connor were nice enough to pay my cover as a birthday present. When we got there some guy with an acoustic guitar was there, and he wasn't half bad, but I really was not in the mood for acoustic crap, I was there for ska. Before Magic Goat went up some girl came up to me absolutely convinced that she knew who I was, but I'm pretty sure I've never seen her before in my life, she was pretty cool though, so it was all good. Magic Goat went on and rocked hXc style. I officially love them, but unfortunately not many people were dancing to them, which was a shame. Whatever, Magic Goat rocks, and everyone should listen to them. The Flatliners showed up really late, so the Flaming Tsunami's were up next. They were insane, I was right up to the stage for most of their set, only venturing into the pit once, where I got elbowed in the throat, still totally worth it. I got a shirt and a CD from them. A sound investment, I believe.
I have decided that Raz Sum deserves their own paragraph, because they were so amazing. I only recently started listening to them, so I didn't know all the songs they played, but I knew a lot of them. I skanked to almost every one, and let me tell you, nothing brings people together like dancing like complete idiots. I heart ska. Unfortunately for them, the PA kept fucking up, and I felt bad, because this was their last show ever. For the last few songs people rushed the stage, and I got up there for "Puberty" and got the chance to sing the chorus with a bunch of other people into the mic. It was just so fucking awesome. It was definitely one of the best shows I have ever been too. Just fucking great.
And then there was yesterday, my grad party. I hate parties, I completely despise them, I have no idea as to why, but I do. My mom made me have it, and I had to interact with all my Dad's family that I don't like. Those losers that I have a tendency to hang out with showed up at random intervals, which was cool. Sadly, they are the people that keep me sane, I don't know how that is possible seeing as how they are all crazy, but I don't question it. I played a bunch of DDR, and I got money. Woo.
- Listening To Sum 41-Hyper-Insomnia-Paranoid-Condrioid
In case you couldn't deduce from the title (which means I don't know you, so: hi!), work began this week, and it is on the not fun side of things.
Last weekend was pretty rad though. On Saturday Tom, Nate, Geoff, and I hopped in a child molester van (me and Tom on the floor in the back with the equipment) and went out to play Paul's grad party. As far as quality of the show, it wasn't too great, but it was a boatload of fun; plus, at least four or five people had their Track IX shirts on, and that's just awesome. Sunday was Geoff's grad party, so basically a bunch of us got together to watch the Gold Cup and eat food. Then we went to a field and beat the shit out of a little Xerox machine. That rocked hardcore.
Yesterday and today sucked ass, though. As I'm sure can figure, I don't like my job very much. Don't get wrong, it's a good job, I get paid to play kickball, but I really fucking hate it. I especially hate it when it's 95 degrees out and those little obnoxious fucking kids want to play speedball, and we can't really say no. Then I come home and it's still a bazillion degrees in the house because we don't have air conditioning.
But I have to keep my eyes on the prize. Friday is my birthday, and I'm going to see Raz Sum and The Flaming Tsunami's. Unfortunately, the day after is my grad party.
More installments of the Ugh series to come.
- Listening To Bad Religion-1000 More Fools
For once I have nothing to bitch about, so I shall list some awesomeness
-I am officially, 100% done with high school. Thank the almighty lord Jesus.
-The Track IX experience is playing our first grad party (Paul's) on Saturday. We have a PA, a child molester van, and a new ska song (!) conceived by Geoff that features Sir Paul himself on the French horn.
-I finally got my permit (not so much with the awesomeness, but I figure I'd put it down anyways.
-On my birthday I am going to see Raz Sum, The Flaming Tsunami's, The Flatliners, and Magic Goat with the boys, and it shall rock majorly.
-With any sort of luck I'm getting my vertical labret piercing in the next week or so.
And probably best of all...
-On August 19th I will be the happiest person in the world. Do you wish to know why? Circle Takes The Square, one of my favorite bands, is coming to Syracuse. To Klub Polski, no less. Y'all honestly have no idea how incredibly excited I am about this.
- Listening To Fall of Troy-The Circus That Has Brought Us Back To These Nights (Yo Chocula)
As Mr. Felty would say.
So, what has happened since I last posted an entry of ranting? Ah yes, that whole graduation thing...and I was right, 'cause Rubies' speech totally played into my rant. Hee. I felt slightly better after that, but the thing was still three hours of my life that I will never, ever get back. I went to Gozzi's grad party, and wasn't that the most fun of my life. Stalking is bad, children, keep that in mind. Not only is it illegal, it is creepy, so leave me the fuck alone. Later on I went to Eva C's, and that was pretty damn fun. Talked and stuff, ate food, watched Little Miss Sunshine. Overall, fun times.
Yesterday I didn't do much of anything except sleep, then I went to Maggie's grad party for a bit, but I left sooner than I wanted to because I felt like absolute shit. So yeah...
Today was pretty freakin' sweet, if I do say so myself. The first part of the day was fairly mundane, but at six I went over to Geoff's for band practice because the first of our grad parties is this Friday, Paul's. He wanted us to learn some Linkin Park, so that's what we did, and even though they are quite possibly the easiest songs ever, we still fucked them up massively, because that's what we do, but eventually we got them. We then proceeded to play a bunch of songs we already know, but really fucking fast. Like, I didn't know I could play and sing that fast, fast. It was awesome. Then, after we were thoroughly tired out, we decided to treat ourselves to sugar-y goodness via Gannon's. And you know what goes great with ice cream? Deep philosophical discussions. So while, Geoff, Paul, Nate, and Pete played football, me and Tom talked religion, because that's what cool kids do, and then we blasted Reel Big Fish and sang at the top of our lungs on the way home.
I love my band brothers.
- Listening To Bad Religion-I Want to Conquer the World.
Aside from the actual graduation ceremony and the physics regents, I am done with high school forever. I have been waiting for this for thirteen years. Well, maybe not thirteen, but at least six.
High school was hell for me. Not because of that usual crap, like, I was tormented and made fun of and I wanted to just die; more because it seemed like such a waste of time. Almost everything I learned is fairly useless. Yeah, I can tell you all about the Great Compromise or symbolism as a device in The Great Gatsby, but what useful skills have I learned. Let's see, I learned some valuable people skills, but that was more from meeting new people. I learned how to kiss ass and bull shit to get what I want. I just think how it is sad that those are the things that I will be using more in my life.
And what I absolutely hate is that we are given this huge ceremony, this big fucking deal, to celebrate our waste of time. It is completely and utterly undeserved. What have we done to warrant this attention? Absolutely nothing except make Rubies and the district look good, thus assuring our state-funding. This whole graduation ceremony is essentially us being thanked for providing the higher ups with their fat fucking paychecks. It drives me nuts. And if my mom wouldn't skill me in some horrible way, I wouldn't even bother going, just give me my bullshit diploma so I can go off and learn more bullshit that will eventually, in some miraculous way, lead me to a career that wil most likely not involve a single thing I have learned.
Sigh. I'm really glad I'm not a cynical individual.
So on a slightly less bitchy note, the past week has been highly uneventful. At band practice we have a new song in the works, one with a ska feel, and I'm really pumped about it. Um...last night I went out to dinner with some losers, and it was a pretty fun time, especially since I don't see hardly any of those guys anymore. What else? What else? Ah, yes, work starts in a couple of weeks, so expect much angry bitching about that...and that's about it. Yup, not only am I not cynical, I'm also the most interesting and fascinating person on the planet.

With the amazing ability to yell at you if you call something emo WHEN IT'S NOT!, and then blast Sunny Day Real Estate in your face.
So the past few days have actually been fairly busy for me, which is a new concept. On Friday I had that whole school thing, then went to Geoff's to watch Brazil and England play football and suck massive ass. Seriously, they both played horribly. Wes Brown tripped over his own feet for god's sake. Anyways, after that we had a short band practice, then headed over to Taste of Syracuse to see Razbari Sumthing. They were, of course, amazing. There was much skanking around people, but I fucked up my knee some how, and spent most of Saturday hobbling around. Sunday I went to Geoff's again because we needed to record a demo for Harborfest. Pat Richards let us use his little red box of magical recording-ness and a decent condenser mic (no more shitty computer mics in the middle of the floor for us!). We recorded the two originals and Where Is My Mind. They're up on the Purevolume and the MySpace, so check 'em out please!
Yesterday was a Monday, and I'm sure it goes without saying, but it sucks. Although today wasn't all that awesome, either.
Physics-Even more of that endless review. I'm so fucking sick of it.
Physics: Revenge of the Review-Even more fucking review.
English-Did stuff for that stupid final project.
P.A.-First group went. It was boring.
Oral Com-More final speeches that are of no consequence.
Spanish-Eeevil listening exam from the fiery pits of hell. God, that thing was fucking awful.
Lunch-Do you like barbecue sauce? If not, you're apparently gay.
Studyhall-Made no attempt whatsoever to work on whatever it was that I had to work on.
60's-I gave my final project. No one cared, but that's okay. Besides, I could have said anything and they would have believed me because no one knew anything about my topic.
Anyways, now I am here and I have to write, like, three things tonight that I don't want to.
- Quote of The Day "It's going to be hotter than a toothpick in the car." -Grace
That's the only reason I really wanted to post.

Contrary to some opinions.
Senioritis has spread to all aspects of my existence, hence why I haven't posted in a week. Although, again, it's not like it really matters, no one reads this anyways.
Highlights-There was that whole school thing for the vast majority of last week. Friday I stayed home, then went to go see The Losers in Into The Woods. Obviously, it was amazing, and quite humorous, as well. Did the whole Fresnos thing, too. Saturday and Sunday sucked because I had to get up at 7 to feed the Dugan's overly excited dogs. Yesterday was the day o' band practice, and we had a first: Felty showed up with less drums. Only five, to be precise, and three cymbals. It was extremely odd, there was actually room to walk around his kit. We finally learned "Who's Gonna Save Us?" by The Living End. It only took us two months, but we finally decided to sit down and learn it. Other than that, it was extremely unproductive.
Today is apparently Tuesday, which was quite a surprise to me.
Physics-Physics-y stuff. I really did not care in the slightest.
Gym-hXc fitness walked. Kristin's face was going to explode.
English-Dr. Strangelove! I'm pumped, but not so much for the Citizen Kane thing that I have to write.
P.A.-Did actual work, again. I'm sick of it.
Oral Com-I don't even think the teacher pretends that it's a real class anymore.
Spanish-Did you know you have to know how to speak the language? I know, it came as a shock to me too, especially since I've taken this goddamn language for five years, and I still can't speak a coherent sentence.
Lunch-Lunch related activities.
Studyhall-Another first, I did work, and it was an odd feeling.
60's-Stupid presentations about stupid stuff. Stupid.
