- Listening To Bad Religion-I Want to Conquer the World.
Aside from the actual graduation ceremony and the physics regents, I am done with high school forever. I have been waiting for this for thirteen years. Well, maybe not thirteen, but at least six.
High school was hell for me. Not because of that usual crap, like, I was tormented and made fun of and I wanted to just die; more because it seemed like such a waste of time. Almost everything I learned is fairly useless. Yeah, I can tell you all about the Great Compromise or symbolism as a device in The Great Gatsby, but what useful skills have I learned. Let's see, I learned some valuable people skills, but that was more from meeting new people. I learned how to kiss ass and bull shit to get what I want. I just think how it is sad that those are the things that I will be using more in my life.
And what I absolutely hate is that we are given this huge ceremony, this big fucking deal, to celebrate our waste of time. It is completely and utterly undeserved. What have we done to warrant this attention? Absolutely nothing except make Rubies and the district look good, thus assuring our state-funding. This whole graduation ceremony is essentially us being thanked for providing the higher ups with their fat fucking paychecks. It drives me nuts. And if my mom wouldn't skill me in some horrible way, I wouldn't even bother going, just give me my bullshit diploma so I can go off and learn more bullshit that will eventually, in some miraculous way, lead me to a career that wil most likely not involve a single thing I have learned.
Sigh. I'm really glad I'm not a cynical individual.
So on a slightly less bitchy note, the past week has been highly uneventful. At band practice we have a new song in the works, one with a ska feel, and I'm really pumped about it. Um...last night I went out to dinner with some losers, and it was a pretty fun time, especially since I don't see hardly any of those guys anymore. What else? What else? Ah, yes, work starts in a couple of weeks, so expect much angry bitching about that...and that's about it. Yup, not only am I not cynical, I'm also the most interesting and fascinating person on the planet.
